Foscarini lamps by Rodolfo Dordoni, Italy

I have decided to write a little post about Foscarini lamps because I love them and I have one (the red one a wonderfull marriage present..), designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 1990 they are still very contemporary and can go very well with modern or classic interior decoration (in my case on a very old classical furniture).
The stand is made of brushed stainless steel, a base made of lacquered metal, and a lampshade made of blown glass that's white on the inside and coloured on the outside.
The lampshade finish adds a particular effect to the light when switched on, it is almost like a magic athmosphere. However carefull! It is very fragile (I already broke one on mine, sic!!).
The cost of the red one is a bit more than 200€ and the other one called "Lettura" at about 550€, for all additional info I suggest you to visit the website www.ambientdirect.com you will find a lot of photos and detailed infos.

STREAMLINER CAB by PLAYSAM

"The open-air version of Playsam's Streamliner car series, the Streamliner Cab calls for the open road."
Playsam is the leading Scandinavian design company for executive wooden toys. Since 1984 scandinavian design playful creativity, integrity and sophistication are Playsam.
I like a lot the design approach of this scandinavian company in the niche market of executive office objects & decorative tools, very contemporary and minimalist philosophy with high quality finish (look at that glossy paint application..), in a way looking at their products reminds me of my school days when (in the model shop..) we where all sanding and spraying thousand times to get a highly glossy paint job on our models....
For more info go visit their website where you will find all products: www.playsam.com ; I will keep posting on them occasionally..don't worry.

Cardboard sound box, what a place to experience!

Ikea pack furniture in it. Gehry has made furniture from it. Now architects are shaping spaces with it. Is there any limit to the creative re-use of corrugated cardboard? With its unique physical consistency, its decidedly axial strength, and its deadening acoustic absorption, corrugated cardboard has many inherent qualities. As such it was the....

Blutooth IPhone headset by Apple

Recently I have been very interested in what Apple is doing (I recently bought an iPod..)and on their website www.Apple-store.com I found their latest headset for the IPhone naturally with blutooth technology.
WhenI looked at the picture I had only one tought passing by my head:"..I want to have one.."
Its inusual simple form and very tasty finish make of it a real well done ID object. It is (in my opinion) a functional and beautiful device hoping that it will really hold on to the ears without folling down like current normal headsets do making difficult to listen to the music in its depth! It is a question of good Design.

Light Drop by Rafael Morgan

The particular aspect of this Lamp is its inspiration: the water dropping...The young Brasilian designer Rafael Morgan realised this lamp replacing the water drop with a light bulb (white led) and the switch naturally is...the nob!

"Hammer" by ATOMDesign

Vaughan & Bushnell asked recently to ATOMDesign to re-think the classical hammer for a re-newed and efficient tool.
The project has been taken very seriously by the Design firm that redesigned the hammer with a U.S. Patent that includes 21 claims.
My impression is very positive looking at it because it is expression of a modern bit sophisticated tool Design and trendy, too.
