Michelin Design Challange 2013

 Dear friends,
Michelin announced the new Design Challenge for 2013, the title this time is:  " Half! Lightweight with a passion ". The objective is to create a lightweight family vehicle, registration will begin on 1st of October.

As consumers and governments push for dramatic gains in fuel efficiency, the automotive industry is looking to design and develop lightweight next-generation vehicles.
Designers create the inspirational forms that drive desire for vehicle ownership, but they will also contribute to lightweight vehicle development through materials choices and using the most effective manufacturing techniques. Successful design relies on closer cooperation between design, engineering, manufacturing and planning than ever before.
Participants are asked to explore lightweight vehicle development by designing a family vehicle capable of transporting between four and six people, meeting consumer demands for safety and comfort, usable on the current road infrastructure, and production feasible using materials, powertrain solutions, or manufacturing solutions that are in use today or in development for use in the foreseeable future...

Sketch Fighter Design Contest by Cardesigncommunity.com & SPD Milan school

Cardesigncommunity.com in partnership with Scuola Politecnica di Design (Milano) launch International Sketch Fighter Contest for transport designers.

The competition is based on Cardesigncommunity standard: the participants have 1 hour to perform their task. The «Sketch Fighter SPD» will have 5 rounds with a final one which will identify the winner. On September, 9 all the works of the final round, which takes 24 hours, will be evaluated by SPD representatives.

The winner will take 100% educational grant in one of the best schools of design – Scuola Politecnica di Design (Milano), Master’s course, 2011/12. The participants who get the 2nd and 3rd places take 50% educational grant and 30% allowance for education.

Luciano Bove Car Designer new profile on Facebook

 Dear friends,

beginning August I decided to open a new page on Facebook about my professional profile. I did it for 2 reasons the first is that not all of you or others go look around on Linkedin where I have already my professional profile, the second is because many of you ask me if I am still a car designer or other infos regarding my professional experiences.

This is normal, I write a lot about advices and tips on car design education and for some of you it is not so easy to know more about me. So who am I?

Now a new page on Facebook is open with some detailed infos about me, some links of interviews I had the pleasure to have, articles I wrote published on other sites and also photos about me on the job (naturally only stuff legally publishable) and some of my old sketches.
You will also find infos about my old design school activities as teacher and latest workshops I did.

I hope you like this initiative and I really hope you will all become fans of this page and that you will spread the word to collect as many fans as possible :)

This is a Bugatti EXK5 rendering by IAAD Turin design school student Marco Reggiani. I publish his rendering because it is really well done I guess for the Illustration Techniques class.
In the Bugatti rendering we have all good ingredients to make a good professional illustration:

-Composition on page
-dramatic perspective with tilted vision angle
-strong contrasts
-warm & cool colors
-good detailing (ground and body reflextions)
-super simple background

IAAD Master in Transportation Design 2011-2012

The “Master of Science in Design – Majoring in Transportation Design” by IAAD (Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design – Torino (IAAD) will have a duration of one academic year, from October 2011 until August 2012, and is worth 60 credits ECTS – EABHES. It is targeted to graduates in Industrial Design and Automotive Engineering, students with a postgraduate diploma in Industrial and Transportation Design as well as professionals who have gained significant experience in the field of transportation.
The tuition fee is 9,000€; some total and partial scholarships will be available (details will follow soon).
The Master will be open to a maximum of 20 students, and each submission will be individually reviewed.

 Dear friends,
I am happy to inform you about SPD design school in Milan Italy Master in Transportation Design with Volkswagen Group partnership offering this time tuition to most talented candidates.
Starting in October 2011 the Master program will be offered by VW Group to best candidates.

SPD and Volkswagen Group are pushing further with their educational partnership and for the next edition of the Master will make available tuition waivers to candidates with high potential. The selection is open to candidates holding a degree in transportation or car design, automotive engineering or equivalent and it is based on a motivational interview, on the evaluation of the portfolio and the submission of a conceptual project assignement. The election process will be conducted jointly by SPD and VW.
